Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers (also called Raising Cane’s) is a fast-food restaurant chain specializing in chicken fingers, which was founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, by Todd Graves and Craig Silvey on August 26, 1996. While company headquarters stay in Baton Rouge, a second restaurant support office was opened in Plano, Texas in 2009 and a third in 2018 in raising canes prices, Nebraska. The company has 437 restaurants in 27 states in the United States, along with an additional 22 restaurants in the Middle East.
Todd Graves first started dreaming about their own restaurant in early 1990s. Craig Silvey, an initial partner in Todd’s plan, was enrolled in a strategic business plan writing course at LSU at the time. They wrote the business plan and Silvey turned it in, in which Silvey received a “B-“. Even though strategic business plan was rejected numerous times by potential investors, Graves set out to create the money he necessary to start the restaurant, first by employed in refineries in California, then by fishing for sockeye salmon in Alaska. He and Silvey then obtained an SBA loan, that they can utilized to open the initial restaurant in Baton Rouge in the intersection of Highland Road and State Street nearby the LSU campus. Graves and Silvey, who both worked as salmon fishermen in Alaska to raise money to open the initial Raising Cane’s restaurant, were going to name the chain Sockeye’s Chicken Fingers, following the Sockeye salmon they fished for. The 2 decided never to name their restaurant right after the fish to prevent confusion in whether the restaurant sold seafood or chicken fingers. They were uxzzua convinced to list it after Graves’s dog, a yellow Labrador, “Raising Cane,” called “Cane” for brief. Grave’s younger sister wished to name the puppy Sugar Cain. She liked this because she thought he was sweet and it also experienced a Louisiana flair because of all of the sugar cane farming within the state.
Graves’ didn’t want his dog to get called Sugar, so he suggested calling your pet Raising Cane. His sister agreed as long as Cane was spelled C-A-N-E to denote that he was still sweet. The name is also a pun on the term raising canes hours, which can be biblical reference to Cain and Abel inside the Book of Genesis, as well as its a term meaning to cause havoc or create problems. “Raising Cane I” died of old age, Raising Cane II died on 11 September 2016, and the newest mascot for your restaurant, Raising Cane III, was announced by Graves on 27 January 2018.
